Privacy Policy

Last updated July 14, 2026

PuffCounter is a vaping and smoking cessation app developed by AnyDev ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the PuffCounter mobile application (the "App"), how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: your tracking data lives on your device, we do not run our own data servers, and we never sell your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. To use the App you sign in with Google or with Apple. Through Firebase Authentication we receive and store the basic profile associated with that sign-in: your email address, your name, and a unique account identifier. This is the only personal information held on our behalf in the cloud.

Data you log in the App. The core of PuffCounter is data you record yourself: puff or cigarette counts and their timestamps, the nicotine strength of your device, your quit plan and daily limits, personal notes, achievements, and your conversations with the in-app AI coach. All of this is stored locally on your device in the App's private database. We do not upload it to servers of our own — we do not operate any.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to a premium plan, the purchase is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier and transaction metadata (product, price, renewal state). We never see or store your payment card details.

Device information. The service providers listed below may process basic technical data (device model, OS version, IP address) strictly as needed to deliver their function, such as completing a sign-in or validating a purchase.

We do not use advertising SDKs and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

2. The AI Coach and OpenAI

The App includes an AI assistant that helps you follow your quit plan. When you send it a message, that message — together with limited context needed to answer, such as your recent consumption stats, your plan settings, your first name, and the App language — is transmitted to OpenAI's API to generate the reply. OpenAI processes this data as our service provider under its API terms, which state that API data is not used to train their models by default. Conversation history itself is stored only on your device. Please avoid including in chat messages any sensitive information you do not want processed this way.

3. How We Use Information

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your logged data stays on your device until you delete it. You can erase everything at any time from Profile → Delete account, which removes your local data from the device and deletes your authentication account (email, name, identifier) from Firebase. Uninstalling the App also removes all locally stored data. Subscription records held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat are retained according to their own policies and legal obligations.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. Because your tracking data is stored on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the App. For anything related to your account data, contact us at the address below and we will respond within the legally required timeframe.

7. Security

Sign-in and all network communication use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Locally stored data is kept in the App's private storage area, protected by your device's operating-system sandboxing. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we limit what leaves your device to the minimum needed to run the App.

8. Children's Privacy

PuffCounter deals with nicotine consumption and is intended only for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, announced in the App. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
