Booktime is an audiobook streaming app developed by AnyDev ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Booktime mobile application (the "App"), how it is used, and the choices you have.
Unlike a purely local app, Booktime does operate its own servers: your library, your listening position, your bookmarks, and your ratings are stored on our infrastructure so they survive a reinstall and follow you to another device. This document is specific about what that means.
Account information. To use the App you sign in with Google, with Apple, or with an email address and password. Through Firebase Authentication we receive a unique account identifier (UID), your email address, and — depending on the provider — your display name and profile picture. We store your UID, your email, and a username derived from it in our own database, so that your library and progress can be linked to you.
Listening activity. As you listen, the App records which audiobook and chapter you are on, your position within that chapter, and the total time you have listened to each title. This is written first to your device and then synced to our servers, so you can resume on another device. The listened total is also what determines whether you are allowed to rate a title.
Content you create. Certain features store text and choices you provide:
Purchase information. If you subscribe, the purchase is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier and transaction metadata (product, price, renewal state). We never see or store your payment card details.
Device and technical information. Our servers and the providers listed below process basic technical data — device model, operating system version, IP address, and request logs — as needed to deliver audio, authenticate you, and keep the service secure and functioning.
We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
A rating you submit is combined with everyone else's into the average score shown on that audiobook's page. If you include a written comment, treat it as public: it may be displayed to other users alongside the title.
Ratings are also final by design — the App offers no way to edit or delete a review once submitted. Please consider that before you send one.
The App relies on the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
We keep your account information and library data for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and its associated data — progress, bookmarks, favorites, and the account record itself — by contacting us at the address below; we will action it within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Bear in mind two exceptions. Published ratings may be retained in anonymised, aggregated form as part of a title's average score, since removing one vote would misstate the ratings of others. And subscription records held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat are retained according to their own policies and legal obligations, outside our control.
Uninstalling the App removes the copies stored on your device, but not the copies on our servers; use the deletion request above for those.
We are based in Peru, so our processing is governed by the Ley de Protección de Datos Personales (Ley N.° 29733) and its regulations. Under that law you hold the ARCO rights — access, rectification, cancellation, and objection — over your personal data, and you may exercise them free of charge by writing to the address below. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may complain to the Autoridad Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales, part of Peru's Ministry of Justice.
Depending on where you live you may hold additional or equivalent rights — for example under the GDPR in the European Union or the CCPA in California — including rights to export or restrict the processing of your data. We honour those requests too. Contact us at the address below and we will respond within the legally required timeframe, and you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Booktime is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
We operate from Peru, and our servers and those of our providers may be located outside your country — and outside Peru — including in the United States. Where a transfer requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards: the cross-border transfer rules of Ley N.° 29733 for data leaving Peru, and instruments such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for data originating in the European Economic Area.
We protect your data in transit with encryption, restrict access to our systems, and authenticate every request against a verified identity token rather than a shared credential. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and current measures to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date on this page, and for significant changes we will notify you in the App.
